National Radiologic Technology Week: Michelle Harrell

National Radiologic Technology Week® is celebrated annually to recognize the vital work of R.T.s across the nation. The celebration takes place each year during the week that includes Nov. 8 to commemorate the discovery of the x-ray by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on Nov. 8, 1895.

The week-long celebration calls attention to the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in patient care and health care safety. 

Today we are getting to know Michelle Harrell, Radiology Tech (R.T.) from the Ultrasound Department at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Why did you choose to work at Morristown -Hamblen Healthcare System? I came to Morristown in 2001 as an ultrasound student.  The people in the Radiology department became my family during the ultrasound program.  After I graduated I applied for the first position at Morristown Hamblen that became available.  

What are your goals in working at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System?  To provide the best diagnostic testing for the patient

Where are you from? Tazewell, Tennessee

If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be? My father n law, everyone that knew him loved him.  I haven’t gotten the chance to meet him yet, he died before I was in my husbands life.  

What is your favorite food? My Dad’s steak

Do you prefer cats or dogs? Dogs

What is you favorite TV show? NCIS

What is your biggest accomplishment? Being a mother to my daughter Shelby age 14.
