MHHS Welcomes First Baby of 2021

Posted on January 4, 2021

After the unpredictable year that 2020 has been, we can all agree we have been anxiously waiting for 2021 to arrive. For Kayce Smith and Luis Gaona, this meant welcoming a new year as well as a new member to their family. Morristown-Hamblen welcomed Kaiden Isaiah Gaona, a beautiful baby boy, as the first baby of 2021. Baby Kaiden was born at 5:16 A.M. on January 1st, 2021 and was delivered by Dr. Peter Clark at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Kaiden was 5 pounds, 11.5 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Kayce Smith, mother of baby Kaiden, was assisted in birth by Ariel (RN), Dallas (RN), Cassidy French (Surgical Tech), and Sam as the nursery nurse. Both Kayce and Luis were very excited to welcome Kaiden into their family as the first baby of 2021. Kayce, Luis, and Kaiden were presented with a gift basket from MHHS and Covenant Health in celebration of their New Year baby which included a bath tub, onesies, baby monitor, hygiene supplies, socks, toboggans, and a very special blanket made by one of MHHS’ volunteers.

“Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is proud to be a birthing center for so many families. We are thankful Kayce and Luis chose to bring baby Kaiden into the world at our hospital. In 2020, over 750 babies were born at MHHS. We continue to strive to be the first and best choice for all of your healthcare needs,” said Gordon Lintz, President and CAO of MHHS.
