MAPLE Award Recipient – Greg York

Posted on March 12, 2021

At Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System (MHHS), we honor our staff who provide extraordinary care with The MAPLE Award, a locally created recognition program that celebrates the compassion and skills our staff bring to patients and families every day. Greg York is our February Maple Award recipient.

Greg works in our Laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and has been at MHHS for over 16 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Medical Technology. Greg began his career at MHHS as his first job out of school and he hasn’t left since. Greg is originally from Goshen, Indiana but moved to Tellico, TN when he was 11. He moved to Morristown, TN and has been here for almost 17 years. Greg chose to work at MHHS because of the location, excellent schedule, and employee benefits.

Greg says his goal in working at MHHS is to provide excellent service in his line of work and to inspire others to do the same in whatever field they might be in. His inspiration is getting to learn something new all the time. Greg feels honored to do his part in the healthcare chain to provide excellent care to patients.

When asked what his greatest accomplishment is, Greg responded, “Graduating college and pursuing his current career.” He wanted to recognize his mother, Kathy York, for giving him strength and perseverance to be the person he is today.

Receiving the MAPLE award was very meaningful to Greg. “During these hard times lately due to the pandemic, just to be recognized for the hard work that I and my fellow coworkers do, makes me smile. It gives a well-dissevered spotlight on a department that does a lot of behind of the scene work,” said Greg.
